EAGLES FACE PLYMOUTH TEST

Eastbourne Forman IT Eagles return to Arlington Stadium tonight (June 9) looking to secure another morale boosting victory against West Country outfit, the Plymouth Devils.

The Sussex side is set to be back at full strength with Charley Powell having made a successful return from injury during the week while Charlie Brooks is also set to resume his role in the reserve berth of the side.

The Devils name a strong looking line up that is likely to test their hosts and potentially put their unbeaten home record under scrutiny.

Former Eagle Mattie Bates is now the Plymouth Team Manager and needless to say he would delight in stewarding his charges to victory against his former club.

Multi-experienced Adam Roynon heads up the visitors offensive and on his day he has the beating of any rider in National League circles.

With some team members unavailable to them, Bates has chosen well with his choice of guests, Birmingham’s Danyon Hume and former Eagle Luke Harris, now of the Coventry Bees, giving the side a resolute appearance.

The Rider Replacement facility will also be utilised for Henry Atkins allowing additional rides for the aforementioned duo.

Another familiar face, resplendent in the visitors reserve berth is that of the wholly popular Richard Andrews who was a member of Eagles treble winning side in 2015 and who has also previously captained the Sussex collective.

Should he hit the ground running on Saturday night, the Devils have all the components in place to test the home resolve.

Revenge is also sure to play a part as Plymouth look to get one back over on their hosts, Eastbourne having opened their campaign on a successful note with a last gasp 46-44 victory at the St Boniface Arena.

With the Mildenhall Fen Tigers having torn up the competition so far in the National Trophy Southern Group, their place in the final would now seem to be assured.

However, the Eagles will be in no mood to let up on their opponents as they look to hone and enhance their own act with both National League and Knockout Cup rewards still within their grasp in Season 2018.

That work ethic and ‘will to win’ saw them romp to an impressive 53-37 victory on the Isle of Wight on Thursday evening and you can be sure that they will be bidding to produce a similar performance as the Devils come calling this evening.
