KO CUP DEFENCE CONTINUES AT COVENTRY

Eastbourne continue their defence of the National League KO tomorrow (May 13) when they take on Coventry Bees in the first leg of a quarter final tie.

The Forman IT Eagles have won the cup three times on the bounce but suffered a tough afternoon in their first encounter with the Bees this year, going down 51-39 in the league.

Team manager Connor Dugard said his team learned a lot about the Leicester track – which is where Coventry stage home meetings – on that occasion.

He said: “We plan to put that information to good use on Sunday.

“As always we aim to win but if we cannot manage that, we aim to keep things tight to give ourselves a good chance of making the semi-final after our home leg at the beginning of June.”

Dugard is without Charley Powell and Charlie Brooks, who both have grass track commitments.

Nick Laurence comes in for Brooks while the rider replacement rule will be utilised to cover Powell’s rides.

Jason Edwards (pictured by Tiffani Graveling) could be in for a busy afternoon from the reserve berth.
