TONIGHT IS OFF
Tonight’s meeting at Arlington Stadium between the Eastbourne Forman IT Eagles and Mildenhall is off.
The shock announcement has come this morning.
A club statement said:
It is with great regret that we have had to cancel our final home meeting of the season in 2018.
News came this morning when we contacted Kevin Jolly [Mildenhall] regarding his team earlier on in the week which included only 1 of his 5 riders from the night before.
Speaking on behalf of the club, the Chairman Martin Dugard explained: "The team average Mildenhall wanted to send down was nearly under 20 points it consisted of an unattached 3 pointer at number 1 and 2, another rider on a 3 point average in the main body of the team and only Matt Marson from their team the night before.
“We have spoken to the SCB this morning and have advised us that we have their full backing on this matter to cancel the meeting.
“We cant sell this fixture to the public which is very sad for not only us but the fans too as we would have liked to bow out on a high!"
“We will now be setting up an online ticketing feature on the club website so that fans can buy their tickets for our end of season awards evening on the 10th November where we can all meet for one last time and have a great send off to a brilliant 2018 our best campaign to date!
Team News for today was as follows:
EAGLES Georgie Wood, Jason Edwards, Mark Baseby, Ethan Spiller, Charley Powell, Charlie Brooks
TIGERS Nick Laurence, Andrew Palmer, RR, William O'Keefe, Alex Spooner, TBA, Matt Marson
The Speedway Control Bureau issued the following statement:
THE Speedway Control Bureau have been informed this morning that despite every effort, Mildenhall are unable to raise a team to represent the club at their final fixture of the season tonight away at Eastbourne.
Unfortunately Eastbourne Speedway have no option but to cancel the fixture.
